Description

Follistatin 344 (FS-344) is the 344-amino-acid precursor form of follistatin, a glycoprotein that binds and neutralises members of the TGF-beta family, most notably myostatin (GDF-8) and activin. Processing of FS-344 yields the circulating FS-315 isoform.

What is Follistatin 344?

Myostatin limits skeletal muscle growth. Follistatin binds myostatin and activin and blocks them from reaching their receptors. In mouse studies, raising follistatin levels produced marked increases in muscle mass, which made it a reference compound for research into the myostatin pathway.
