Description
Thymalin is a thymus-derived peptide preparation first studied in the 1970s and 1980s as a regulator of immune cell development. It belongs to the group of short “peptide bioregulators” investigated by Russian gerontology research groups.
What is Thymalin?
The thymus is where T-lymphocytes mature, and it shrinks with age (thymic involution). Thymalin has been studied for its influence on T-cell differentiation and on markers of immune ageing in animal models. It is frequently compared with thymosin alpha-1, a 28-amino-acid thymic peptide with a different structure and mechanism.
