Description

What is Oxytocin?

Oxytocin is synthesised in the hypothalamus and released from the posterior pituitary. It acts on the oxytocin receptor, a G-protein-coupled receptor found in the brain, uterus, mammary tissue and heart. Intranasal delivery is widely used in research because it is one of the main routes studied for reaching central oxytocin receptors in animal and translational models.
