Tesamorelin

Description

Tesamorelin is a synthetic analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH). It contains all 44 amino acids of human GHRH with a trans-3-hexenoyl group added at the N-terminus, a change that makes it more resistant to enzymatic breakdown than the native hormone.

What is Tesamorelin?

Tesamorelin binds the GHRH receptor on pituitary somatotroph cells and triggers pulsatile growth hormone release, which in turn raises IGF-1. Because it acts upstream of the pituitary, normal somatostatin feedback stays intact. It is often compared in studies with sermorelin, a shorter 29-amino-acid GHRH fragment (GRF 1-29).
