Description
GHK-Cu Spray contains copper tripeptide-1, the copper(II) complex of glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine, dissolved in a ready-to-use spray solution. The tripeptide occurs naturally in human plasma, saliva, and urine, and plasma levels have been reported to decline with age. This listing is the liquid format, and a capsule version is sold separately.
What is GHK-Cu Spray?
The GHK sequence has a strong affinity for copper(II) ions, and the resulting complex gives solutions a characteristic blue color. In vitro studies with dermal fibroblasts found that GHK-Cu increased production of collagen, elastin, and glycosaminoglycans such as dermatan sulfate. Other research has measured its effects on matrix metalloproteinases and their tissue inhibitors, and on angiogenesis and nerve outgrowth in animal wound models.
Studies of GHK-Cu in liquid vehicles have looked at how the peptide-copper complex behaves in aqueous solution and how it permeates skin models in diffusion cell experiments. Copper peptides can be sensitive to pH and oxidizing conditions, so solution stability is a relevant variable for spray preparations. Researchers comparing formats may test this product against lyophilized or encapsulated material.
